Dem. Candidate’s Words on Vietnam Service Differ From History

Post by moy3rd on Tue May 18, 2010 8:33 am

At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to soldiers overseas, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut rose and spoke of an earlier time in his life.

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.

*****He was in the USMC Reserves for that time(supposedly) - he and others in that period including a few Pro Athletes utilized Reserve status to get by General Conscription possibilities yet have the bulk of the year for their own interests. Only in 1968 were (some) Reservists called up by LBJ. Most Reservists and NG's skated by.

****** It wasn't until Dan Quayle (who did serve 2 full years active) became a National figure in 1988 that the consideration of serving as opposed to not serving became a Political plus - more importantly I think the Lying BS of John Kerry c.1971/72 set the stage for many to think they could forver get away with these lies.

****** Anytime you hear the term "Vietnam era Vet" you can be like 99% certain the guy never got to SE Asia.

All these Wannabees need a bigger body of water, how about the Gulf of BP? Twisted Evil The slippery jerks ought to feel right at home in an oil slick.
I don't recall seeing that news clip, when it happened in 2008, but I can't believe how he would claim that it was not meant to be intentional falsifying on his part. Why do we allow these vermin to continue in positions of power and importance when they lie through their smiling teeth (well, he is a lawyer Rolling Eyes ) and slap good men in the face by claiming to be one?

We have a guy running for congress here who is a doctor who on his list of bullets the 2nd item is "Viet Nam Era" When you check he served at 3 different post in the south east and noe were where war wounded were returned. He was a battalion DR. at each location.
